Synagogues

In 1738 there is mention of a conference room in Frerik Simons' home at the Middelste Verlaat. This was probably a home synagogue. He has a synagogue built behind his home in 1745. This passes into the hands of the Jewish Congregation in 1793. In 1797 the synagogue had become so ruinous that it was renovated.

The renovated synagogue was consecrated in 1798. Several repairs and alterations were carried out in the 19th century. Nevertheless the building had become so ruinous that it was demolished.

On September 2nd, 1892 a new synagogue was consecrated, it had sprung up on the spot of the old building. After the war the synagogue was sold and in 1947 demolished.
